Johannes Mehserle was taken into custody in Nevada on suspicion of the NYE murder of
Oscar Grant after a warrant was issued in Calfornia for his arrest, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Witnesses captured
Mehserle shooting
Grant in the back, once he was face down on the train platform. The incident has caused both peaceful protests and violent riots throughout the city, forcing
Mehserle to flee to Nevada for his safety after he received numerous death threats. Prosecutors are claiming the incident to be 'intentional'.
Mehserle is currently being held without bond after waiving California extraditon.
