Fantasia's House Auctioned.. and She doesnt seem to care

Fantasia's back in the news again. Why you may ask, for being broke, what else.

She faces the loss of her 1.3 million dollar home in an upscale area of Charlotte for failure to pay a Florida credit company $65,000 - money she borrowed in 2006 to pay back taxes she owed the IRS. City officials have tried every effort to contact the Idol star but neither her reps or her lawyers will make any attempt to settle the debt or even recognize that one exists.

Seems this is not the only time dear Fanny has had problems with asset and money managment issues. In 2005, Barrino nearly lost another home she owns in Charlotte as well as her red $240,000 Mercedes Benz. She apparently ignored a lien on that home, valued at $740,000, brought by the neighborhood association after she failed to pay fees and other costs. Then, last ear, she failed to pay a promissory note on $187,809 she borrowed to buy her Mercedes. The dealership that sold her the car sued, but the matter was resolved. [source]

Foolishness in the News: Dude is Taking Dead-Beat Dad to A New Level

And in the most foolish news I've heard in a while, this dude (22 yr old Danny Platt) pictured here murdered his 2 year old over $4000 in back child support that was owed. He turned himself in after telling police the child had been abducted by 3 dudes with dreadlocks and AK-47's.

Platt had been quoted saying that he "would kill either his wife or his child before he paid child support,” which he recently had been ordered to do, Sgt Riley said. [source: sky news]

This whole story saddens me deeply. To the triflin men out there would would rather do life in prison than give the mother of your seed a few dollars to live on -- go get some business!! And that's on the real. Let's make a better name for ourselves Black folks and show the world that were not just baby making machines and killers ( and whatever other stereotypes out there) . And if we do make babies, men lets step up. To those of you who have stepped up -- kudos and claps to you. Im SMH @ the whole situation....

Does Michael know its a Recession?

Ok seriously folks... why do broke people buy stuff they know they cant afford? Even with a home (Neverland Ranch) that nearly foreclosed on him, Michael Jackson has reportedly inked a lease on a Bel Air mansion near Los Angeles so he could be "where all the action is".

The French chateau style estate has 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces, 7 bedrooms, theatre, wine cellar and tasting room. He's paying a whopping $100,000 a month for the property which hes leased for a year. So you foreclose one home, sell most of your property in an auction and your paying 100k for rent.

Do better Mike!...seriously.

Beyonce Afraid She'll Kill Family with Her Cooking

Bey may be good at the slow wind and the scissor leg.. but cooking is not her strong suit apparently. She was quoted saying--

“One thing I am doing for the first time is cooking. But I’m the worst!
I’ve been working since I was 13. I’ve been touring. I haven’t had the time to
be at home and learn the simple things.
“My mother’s like, ‘You’re 27 years old. This is a shame. You have to learn how to cook.’ So this year it’s going to be my first time. Hopefully, my family will still be well and alive after they eat what I cooked!”

Brandy does The Today Show

Despite dragging record sales Bran is still hot on the promo trail with her 2nd single from the 'Human' LP entitled 'Long Distance'. She delivers a stellar performance here - vocals are on point, from both her and the background singers. Brandy's vocals are sounding stronger than ever and hopefully her CD will get a little more play than it has been. I think that's its a more than decent project. Your thoughts??

Angela Simmons Says No Romp Before the Ring

Chrihanna Engaged?

Word on the street is that the couple may just be getting ready to tie that marital knot. According to the Daily Mail, Rihanna was spotted rocking a huge diamond ring on her wedding finger just after New Year's Eve in London, walking out of the Movida Nightclub blinging after Chris reportedly popped the question.

No word yet on the trueness of this one but pics have been surfacing all over the net with Chris taking the boo home to meet mama 'nem. My guess is there could be more trueness to this than not and if so Congrats to Chris and Rihanna. Before you know it, they'll be cute little frisky half caribbean ChriRih babies running around all over the place.

Mariah Re-records 'Hero' & Gets A Milli

Mariah was in the studio (as seen below) re-recording her infamous 'Hero' putting some '09 flava on it. But let's just call it what it is -- Mariah isnt a young girl anymore and her voice has aged and gotten a bit deeper and sounds like shes compensating for those notes that she can't hit anymore.

Nevertheless, 'Hero' and her other famous hits like 'Always be my Baby' and 'One Sweet Day' will be included on Carey's first collection of classics entitled "The Ballads" for Sony Records due out Jan 20th.

In other news, Mariah snagged 'a milli' after agreeing to peform four songs at the Nikki Beach Club on the Caribbean Island of St. Barts where she spent New Years with hubby Nick and other A-listers.

Obama Gets Sentimental

Barack Obama bid adieu to his Hyde Park home in Chicago on Sunday to join his wife and 2 daughters as they transition into the White House. Obama say told the press aboard his government issued jet that "Malia's friend had dropped off an album of the two of them together," he continued. "They had been friends since pre-school, and I just looked through the pages, and the house was empty and it was a little tough, it got me."

Michelle and the girls arrived in Washington on Saturday to settle in to thier 5-star hotel directly across from the White House in preparation for Malia and Sasha's first day of school on Monday at the private Sidwell Friends school.

Obama just seems to me like the sentimental type behind closed doors. I'm sure he realizes that this is only the first of many emotional days to come. One of which the world cant wait for, Inaguaration Day.

Keyshia Cole Covers Jet Magazine

Keyshia Cole is starting the new year out on a high note being the first to grace the cover of the first issue in 2009. She sat down with the folk over at Jet Mag to talk about her new album, new look, family and her reality show Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is.

When asked about her family Keyshia says “Watching my sister and mom grow makes me feel proud of them,” Although the family keep it real and let it all hang out in the show’s third season, she hopes that her viewers will get something out of it as well. “I decided to do the reality show because there are young girls out there who are or were in my predicament, coming up the same way I had come up. I had them in mind when showcasing my family’s business.”

Rihanna to Perform at Super Bowl Bash

Rihanna is just racking up the performance credits here lately with the most recent being that she will be one of the performer at the NFL's Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Bash along with Fall Out Boy, Lifehouse, and Enrique Iglesias. The two night event is set to take place at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida on Jan. 29 to kick off Super Bowl XLIII, which takes place on Feb. 1.

Let me just say this, since there is the ever so apparant comparison of Bey and Rih... Beyonce is just now "crossing over" into a more international sound (with songs like 'Like a Boy' and 'Halo' --sounds void of the hip hop/r&b staple, that heavy drum beat and club sound) although her music is large around the globe its not really intercoastal friendly, at least not all of it. Rihanna's sound is a little more international and appeals to a broader market. If you ask me, thats why shes being tapped for so many notable appearances than that of ther predecessor.

They're Girlfriends Again

The cast of the long running sit-com 'Girlfriends' reunite once again. Season 6 from the show will be released on Feb 24, 2009 according to Paramount Home Entertainment. Along with the release of the official artwork for the season the production company released an official statement saying that the DVD will include--

"all 22 episodes from the 6th Season, for a total
runtime of 450 mintues. Girlfriends - The 6th Season will have audio tracks in English (5.1, Stereo) and will be presented in Wide Screen
presentation"

Its good to see were not be cheated out of any episodes and seasons like what happened when the Soul Food: The Series DVD's were released. So for all you Girlfriends fans, you will get the chance to add to your collection soon enough.

In a most random moment, here is video of news report on a woman who set her husbands gentials on fire when she found on he was cheating. The man is in critical condition and has said to have died from his injuries. If this isnt some Lorena Bobbett crazy lady stuff I dont know what was. But, the report says shes a mother of 3 so I know shes thinking not after bearing 3 of your snotty nosed kids do you go and cheat via email. And.. how dumb is that to leave a paper trail. Dummy!

Jennifer Hudson Back to Work in 09

Jennifer Hudson has confirmed that she will go back to work in 09 and has been named one of the artist that will perform the hits of Neil Diamond during the Grammy week festivities at the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala to be held on Feb 6th. This will probably be the first time the Oscar award winning actress/singer is publically seen since the tragic murders of her mother, brother and nephew. This is one of several events to happen before the 51st Annual Grammy Awards to be held in LA at the Staple Center.

Ill be glad to see her out and about. A family tragedy of this magnitude would be alot for anyone to endure and seeing her persevere through that is more than admirable.

New Movie: 'Not Easily Broken'

The trailer for the film 'Not easily broken' has surfaced starring Taraji Henson, Morris Chestnut and others.

Thoughts -- from the trailer its like seriously, you dont find too many men who really think a baby will solve marital problems. Still I must admit it looks pretty interesting. Since I love me some Taraji and some Jenifer and definitely some Morris, they have effectively drawn me into this one.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre Celebrates 50

And in case you need a little culture in your day -- The Alvin AIley American Dance Theatre (AAADT), the timeless and classic modern dance company, is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. The troupe opened its annual month-long run at New York City Center with a star-studded fete attended by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Tiki Barber, Al Roker and Andre Leon Talley. "Dance speaks to everyone.... And when Alvin Ailey spoke of the human spirit through dance, people listened – with their hearts and with their minds," Winfrey, a longtime supporter of the company, said. And not only that but Dec 4th has been named "Alivin Ailey Day" in the city of NY.

Beyonce's New Movie : 'Obsessed'

Looks likes its the day of everything Bey (not intentionally, but you know) with the release of the trailer for her newest movie "Obsessed". The flick stars Beyonce who plays the wife of Idris Elba who is a corporate executive that is being stalked by a temp in his office who he mistakingly got involved with. Well...that was before he found out she was a stalker. Bey as the wholesome wife is quite believable to me and I usually dont prefer her as an actress. The end of the trailer where she plays the crazy wife role and engages in the chick fight... well, try and get in on Jay and see if this wont be true.

Excuse me while I go philosophical for a moment --The premise of this movie is totally hilarious to me. Fragile and crazed temp pisses off the black woman and she goes "around the way" crazy on you and kicks your butt. Wonder why when the black girl does crazy it really looks crazy but when the other chick does psycho its called entertainment?? Hmm.

Beyonce Double Video Premiere

Bey debuts her two newest videos for 'Diva' and 'Halo', which you can view below.

Thoughts.... well, the 'Diva' video left me a little disappointed. From the high intensity dance moves we saw in the 'Single Ladies' video I was expecting a little more than I got from Diva as far as dancing goes. Sure the video is hard hitting and edgy just like the track, but conceptually I was looking for more of a story line(especially since is my FAV out of the whole album). From looking at the video I'm not too sure why a diva is 'a female version of a hustla'...especially not from that spontaneous looking choreography. But I have to say the video is still hot, just not at all what I was expecting.

On the contrary 'Halo' is personal, sensual, conceptually sound and I love it when Bey looks human, not like some glorified glam-god (although she can play that role successfully too). The male lead in this video is scrumptious, I tell you what! Im loving this pick -- its definitely a nice contrast from 'Diva'.

Barack Obama and his family will be spending the holidays with family and friends in Hawaii. Several sources are reporting that hes been seen in all his Presidential swagga chillin on the beack with his wife Michelle and two daughters Sasha and Malia. He's also been hitting up the golf course and when asked about his games he said with a smile, "I'm not that good".

While enjoying time with fam and friends, he took a moment in between his golf game at Oahu's Olomana Golf Links to order two hot dogs, soft drinks and two orders of a local luncheon specialty called spam musubi – Spam and a fried egg on a bed of rice, held together with a strip of dried seaweed, according to reporters covering his trip. People Magazine is reporting this morning that reports from Michael Jackson's biographer that the singer has a rare lung disease in which might kill him is a "total fabrication," according to a statement released by Jackson's "official and sole spokesperson, Dr. Tohme Tohme" and issued by Los Angeles firm Scoop Marketing, Reuters reports.
